Who Am I?

Jun 04 2005 01:14 PM

I thought I'd start this thread for those of us posting under new screen names in our new cyberhome.

I had chosen Inside Pitcher when I was still writing for New York Mets Inside Pitch magazine. When that gig ended, the name didn't fit as well, but I didn't feel like starting from scratch again so I held onto the handle.

Since we're starting from scratch anyway here, I thought I'd come up with something new. I didn't want to be defined as anyone's mom anymore, but I wanted something that said something about me.

Then it dawned on me that I should do something to honor the fact that I'm returning to school. Freakin' Rutgers got some serious consideration, and I'm sure it would have gotten a few laughs. But ultimately, I went with ScarletKnight41 - Scarlet Knight to honor Freakin' Rutgers' mascot, and 41 to honor the greatest player to ever wear the Mets uniform.

Jun 04 2005 02:46 PM

well, shoot. now you've got me all thinking that i shoulda gotten a new name too...

Jun 04 2005 02:51 PM

I used to be JonathanArcher - since Enterprise is dead, I figured I would change.

Jun 04 2005 04:38 PM

I'm still me. I suppose I could try to come up with something else, but it's much easier to just be who you be.

Jun 04 2005 04:40 PM

Aha! It's much easier to change your username on this forum!

Now I'm "seawolf17." We'll see how that sticks for a bit.

Jun 04 2005 04:43 PM

>>> It's much easier to change your username on this forum!<<<

Keywords: beta testing

Thanks for reminding me to turn that off.

Jun 04 2005 05:01 PM

No problemo, edgy. Got your back.

Seawolf17 it is; a tribute to my old ez past, a nod to the future. I dig it.

Jun 04 2005 05:07 PM

getalife = kc's admin name

We'll have at least four or five admins soon, the same one's as the ez-one.

SInce I ignorantly began posting as gf212121, which is the name I use to sign onto these sorts of things, and not knowing that I could choose a more personalized name, I got stuck with a dumb one. Now I know enough to choose my own dumb name.

It is, of course, the title of one of my favorite R.E.M. songs, and my sig is a line from that song.

Jun 04 2005 06:08 PM

Same name, new avatar. But how come everyone else gets bigger avatars? I followed the rules.

Jun 04 2005 06:33 PM

My name hasn't changed. i like some these new emoticons like him  but the rest stink.

Jun 04 2005 08:59 PM

vtmet's easier for me to keep the same name...I used have more names, but my brain hurts a lot easier now that I'm 40 so...I don't want to confuse myself...

Jun 05 2005 07:38 AM

Who am I?

I go away for a long weekend and everyone runs off and leaves me. I'm glad you at least left a forwarding address.

I hate starting over again after almost making it halfway to the promised land of Seaver designation. Hopefully, I won't be monstrously huge for too long.

It's nice to have my original handle again. Though I must admit, I'll miss the ladies calling me "hottie".

Jun 05 2005 04:28 PM

Who says we'll stop calling you Hottie? ;)

Jun 05 2005 05:22 PM

I wonder if the GSLC will rear his tentacles over here soon... he's one of my favorite CPF characters.

Jun 05 2005 05:26 PM
Thanks KC...

I appreciate you resizing my avatar to a more reasonable size. I would however, like to make a request that it be slightly larger. Say on the order of 100x100 (or 125x125) size so that the writing is more legible.

I'm sure your busy with the new site so I understand if you tell me to get a life, but I thought I'd at least ask.

I'm staying at ezb unless I know Purveyor of Pomposity IV is on board with this move.

]which is the name I use to sign onto these sorts of things, and not knowing that I could choose a more personalized name, I got stuck with a dumb one.
Same here. I use ejflor automatically everywhere, but here have changed to my favorite all time Met, with a tribute to his streak. I thought about doing something to do with a Guns N' Roses song, and frankly there's still time. But this is a baseball forum, so I went with a baseball name.

Jun 05 2005 08:59 PM

ej! Good to see you.

Stil Rotblatt. Didn't think about a possible name change until you admins made it hard again.

Jun 05 2005 09:06 PM

You too. I like your avatar.

Jun 05 2005 09:07 PM

Thanks. I figured that if I was changing my image, I'd go all out <g>

Nothin new here. It's hard to get rid of a name once you grow attached to it.

Jun 06 2005 01:20 AM

Well, I'm trying to fit in a little better, so I ditched the great big ASTRO in front of my name and got a nice avatar to match.

I think I'm going to make myself a cheat sheet to keep up with all the name changes. I had to go through the same thing when people initially moved to the CPF from the old MOFO. My mind can only handle so much change at a time.

I am not the answer... but i am, surely, THE :?:

em, yeah

I'm still just Duan!

Jun 06 2005 08:38 AM

I like how Jim is a number in the new system, not just his name:

Jim) The Monstrously Huge Batboy
500) Paul Siebert

Jun 06 2005 08:44 AM

Just a suggestion, and not a very good one, and easy for me since I don't have to do it. How about, for a while, everyone who's done a name change put their old name on their signature line?

Jun 06 2005 09:01 AM

That works for some of us better than others. For the moment, I'll go back to a really old one until I think of something better.

Jun 06 2005 09:13 AM

Or, better and cleaner, we can put it in our profile on a line that will show up in their personal section on the left:

Jun 06 2005 10:01 AM

I used to be Centerfield II. Now I am back to being just Centerfield.

As I said in the other, less appropriate forum, I was phatlipmojo @ ezboard. Hooray.

You can take away my old posts.

..but I'm keeping my name.

Jun 06 2005 01:49 PM

Nothing major.
On the old site, I was Mets Fan Since 1962.
But the site kept forgetting my cookies and forcing me to sign in every couple of days. (Sometimes even when I had been on the site earlier in the day)
So I'll be using the abbreviation - less to type if the same thing happens here.

Jun 07 2005 11:13 AM

Is Batty31 the former Mets Magic?

Willets Point
Jun 07 2005 11:21 AM

I remember Mets Magic leaning more towards Joan Jett than Mike Piazza.

Jun 07 2005 01:29 PM

so is the new site or is it not definite yet.

Jun 07 2005 01:31 PM

I like when it's easy to figure out who the new people are from the old board.

CF is the new Watson to Sherlokc. :P WP would make a rotten detective. BTW, I think I should be offended by that "leaning" remark.

Sal's lurking, stubborn ol' lizardlike amphibian.

I'll email Fillet, he's got a lot of irons in the fire.

Jun 08 2005 02:18 PM

I e-mailed Filet a few days ago - he knows where we moved.

He's busy as all heck, but hopefully he'll join us soon.

Jun 08 2005 02:19 PM

Yes. See my message earlier in the thread. Maybe I should've kept the avatar.....

Edgy DC
Jun 08 2005 03:02 PM

I'm not seeing any sign of Gary Cohen, Jr.

So far, the race to Seaverdom is merely a race for second place as ScarletKnight41 thunders ahead of the field with 143 posts.

The rest of the newly-formed century club fights it out for Koosmandom.

Edgy DC 103
Sea Wolf 102
Yancy Street Gang 100

It would be fun (but counterproductive) if the first poster to Seaverdom got to retain exclusive rights to the designation, and the next one down the line got exclusive rights to the second-best Met and so on. Somewhere down the line, our 500th-most prolific poster would forever become Siebert after his or her tenth post.

Jun 08 2005 05:09 PM

that'd be cool. of course, at the rate i'm going, it may be decades before i get to be... i dunno... charlie o'brien.

Jun 08 2005 05:20 PM

Yancy should overtake me soon with the resurrection of the Schaefer polls.

Great to Know that Magic is back among us. Of course, I guess she had recently rejoined us at the old CPF and some of us were just too dense to know.

Haven't seen Jersey Shore in quite a while. I really miss her.

Rockin' Doc
Jun 09 2005 08:33 PM

Jun 10 2005 06:52 AM

Check out my percentile, Old Mole.

I wrote to JG at the address in his ezboard profile (Boy Named Seo), his last post there was in the "Vacation 2005" thread, so maybe he's away or something. The thread is gone so I couldn't read what the post said

Jun 10 2005 07:41 AM

He was away - he was actually in NY last week, and saw the Mets at Shea. He's back home now, and he knows about the new cyberhome.

I've been working on such a listing for my own personal use. I will post it once I get it as complete as I can. Then those that wish to, may fill in the gaps in my memory.
