All-Purpose Who's Going to The Game Thread

Edited 1 time(s), most recently on Jun 13 2005 02:07 PM

Use this thread to state to, or ask of, your brethren if your/their plans include attending the Mets tilt on that particular date.

So besides me who's going tonight?

Feel sorry for ya.

On Friday nite, come over to the front row box of Mezz 22 and say hi. It's my bday so the least you can do is bring beer or maybe some beef jerky or something.

Jun 10 2005 07:02 AM

A birthday and anniversary on the same weekend? You're going to have a lot of celebrating to do - have a good one!

Jun 10 2005 09:25 AM

Well, I had fun anyway.

Highlight of the night was the Wright ding-dong.

I scored the game for the first time in years. Forgot how much fun that was.

Couldn't believe they had the attendance at 30,000+. For a Thursday against a bad club. Not bad.

Left after the tenth when it was 3-3 so the loss cannot be pinned on me and I was well on my way to Connecticut before the dam burst.

FYI: If you are holding tickets to a game that was rained-out and want to cash them in, they no longer give cash. They will credit your card or mail you a check. This suxx because whenever I have had tix to games that were cancelled I would bring them with me to the next game I'd attend, cash them in and use the fundage for eats and drinks.

Don't dig the new policy.

Jun 10 2005 09:32 AM

I'll bet you had a big snack when you got home then

Jun 10 2005 09:32 AM

I'll be at Sunday's game along with about 5,000 kids and parents. I get to stand on the field during the Star Spangled Banner along with my son's baseball team (and every other team that plays in Prospect Park). Be sure to look for me, I'll be with the team that has uniforms that look sort of like the Reds. I'm excited about being in a packed stadium looking at it from an on-the-field perspective.

Jun 10 2005 09:45 AM

Sausage and peppers at the game and a midnight snack (and then some) after I got home.

Jun 10 2005 10:30 AM

I love scoring the game... I have a stack of Mets programs with filled-in scorecards from every game I've attended in the past 8 years. That's only a few dozen, but still.

I taught my wife how to do it as well, and she faithfully fills in the squares, although her style is a lot different than mine.

Maybe if y'all are good, I'll scan my "10-run 8th inning' scorecard and post it. What a game that was.

Unless one surmises that they lost because you left.

Captain, indeed. What was I thinking?

Jun 10 2005 10:44 AM

Unless one surmises that they lost because you left

I think that is exactly what happened and he is trying to deflect the guilt. Instead, he drew attention to it.

Typical criminal behavior.

Jun 10 2005 02:23 PM

We're going Sunday. If I can, I'll go over behind home plate on the mezz when
the 5000 kids are all on the field and see if I can get a good full field photo or
two for you Cal. Enjoy.

Jun 13 2005 09:33 AM

]Unless one surmises that they lost because you left.

Captain, indeed. What was I thinking?

I'm old, I was tired I had a 45 minute drive ahead of me and had to get up the next morning. I do what I can.

Cut a fella some slack.

Jun 13 2005 09:58 AM

KC, just saw this. Did you get pix? I was the one with the hat.

A capitol idea!

Thanks, Kase. I'm with the kids in red in front of the Geico sign or maybe with the people in red gawking at Pedro. I wasn't wearing red but the kids were.

Jun 13 2005 12:58 PM

Here's the other one I have from down that end.

I like this idea a lot. Like, more than I can express.

It's so weird to think of KC on the first-base side.

I caught the Portland Seadogs at the Bowie Baysox Friday night. It was simultaneously Tennis Ball Mayhem Night, Fireworks Night, and Boy Scout Sleepover Night.

Peter Bergeron says hello.

Jun 13 2005 01:13 PM

These are from behind home plate but with some zoom. My new Sun seats
are still on the third base side but in the reserves.

Jun 13 2005 02:07 PM

No idea what you're talking about...

Jun 13 2005 02:10 PM

I am going to the red sox game tongiht. . .cheap 12 dollar upper bleacher seats!

Sweeeet. Hope it doesn't rain.

H-Chick, that'll be the 1975 World Series rematch. Maybe Carlton Fisk will be there.

The Red Sox are rematching against several World Series opponents this season: Cardinals (1946, 1967, 2004), Cubs (1918), Reds (1975), Pirates - arrr (1903), and Phillies (1915). Almost makes interleague play interesting. Almost.

Some admin, in blatent violation of the "Never fix a typo that someone has called out without acknowledging the editing job" rule, has changed the title of this thread from "All-Pupose..." to "All-Purpose...", thus making me look like an idiot.

I mean, I give such an easy target by behaving like an idiot constantly, it's not like anyone needs to jump on this occasion.

Jun 13 2005 02:57 PM

Um, that was me.

It seems that either I have administrator capabilities or any dumb schmuck can edit a thread title.

Jun 13 2005 03:15 PM

They are naming the left field foul pole "Fisk's pole" today in a short pregame ceremony.

I think it is kind of cheesy to officially name a pole something. . .pesky;s kind of just caught on. . .but this is lame.

Swan Swan H
Jun 13 2005 03:18 PM

Wouldn't "Pudge's Pole" at least have some sort of alliterative charm?

Edgy DC
Jun 13 2005 03:19 PM

Not as clever either.

Pudge's Pole or the Fisky Pole would've been better.

Jun 30 2005 10:28 AM

I was all set to go today but 'something suddenly came up'.

Anybody heading out to see Pedro clinch the series?

Jun 30 2005 10:48 AM

I'm going to the game on Monday.

Jun 30 2005 10:49 AM

Not going tonight. . . but we are flying down to baltimore for my friend's bachelor party.

We are going to an O's game tomorrow night, playing golf in the morning and then driving back to boston with his best man. . . I am going to try and convince them to stop byNY, stay the night and see the mets game on sunday and THEN head to boston.

But, I don't think it will work. . .

Jun 30 2005 02:16 PM

i'm going on sunday. i hope we get there early enough to snag a pair of cool hats!

Aug 02 2005 07:30 AM

Bought tixx for to-nite's game back in February with the idea we might see the debut of some new Met.

The Dickshotzz will be in Loge section 2, front row, in case you owe me a beer or need to collect one I owe you.

Aug 06 2005 09:28 AM

Heading out to see the return of Jae Seo. We'll be in Mezz Reserved section 12, rows C&D. Grey away jersey, black custom scorebook, nephew in a Beltran shirt asking me eight million questions and learning to keep score.

Aug 06 2005 09:45 AM

If you go on the 20th, you can take Peanut

Aug 06 2005 07:31 PM

Are they doing Bark at the Park!?! I'm so there. It's not on at all!

Aug 06 2005 10:29 PM

Double check on the date, but I am pretty sure it is the 20th.

I remember Ted and Fran saying two things in particular, that they would be off on that day (meaning it's a weekend game), and that you should not tell your dog in advance that they have to sit in the Pepsi Picnic area

I'm thinking about taking my Boston Terrier, perhaps putting a Sox cap on her, although she does have a Mets leash and collar.

Aug 16 2005 02:36 PM

Just sort of fell into two tickets Row A in the Loge Box behind home plate for tomorrow's game.

Aug 16 2005 02:40 PM

Don't jump into the screen. They frown upon that.

Aug 16 2005 03:34 PM

I thought that was only Yankee stadium.

Edgy DC
Aug 16 2005 03:38 PM

I'm thinking that those snaps of Kevin Elster and Tim Burke were two consecutive shots by the same photographer on the same roll.

Aug 16 2005 03:51 PM

Check it out while you can, once seawolf changes to match the next posting level, Edgy's post will seem odd.

Aug 18 2005 04:39 PM

I'll be at Friday's game against the Nats, bringing my daughter (age 6) to her first Shea night game. We're field level down the right field line, don't have the tickets in front of me to know exactly where.

Has anybody been to the Fan Fest before? Is there a lot of stuff for a little kid to do, and is it worth building the extra time in to get there early? Looking at the pics on the Mets site, it looks like a place my daughter would like. But it can't hurt to get other opinions.

Aug 18 2005 04:52 PM

HahnSolo, check out your seats on this site
It's really neat! Have fun with your daughter

Seawolf don't forget, you need to buy a ticket for Peanut. How much are they?

Aug 18 2005 04:55 PM

We're not going Saturday night... my wife gets too tired at night now to hike that far, and it's just too much of a hassle to schlep him all the way in there by myself. He's too hyper; he'd spend the whole time going nuts. If we had a big, calm dog, then I'd do it; but he'd be jumping all over the place.

$30/person, $5/dog, I believe.

Aug 18 2005 04:58 PM

Have you told him yet?

Aug 18 2005 05:14 PM

FanFest is nice - it has a big inflatable slide, batting cages, a dunk tank (with a volunteer clad in the shirt of the opposing team du jour), and all sorts of other activities. Plus, if your little one is a member of the Mets Fan Club for Kids (something I recommend highly - it's a well spent $25. They get all sorts of goodies, plus every time they come to Shea they get a free gift just by showing their ID cards!), it's where she can choose her free gift of the night. It's definitely worth checking out.

Have fun!

Aug 19 2005 08:26 PM

I'm going to the game on Sunday, August 21.

Aug 21 2005 10:39 AM

I'm going to the game today, sitting in Row X1A (behind the plate, I think.)

Aug 21 2005 11:08 AM

Too Hot..Too expensive...on TV....can't find "real" food at Shea and I cant bring mine in anymore and lastly Rocker is right about the #7 train...

Sep 22 2005 08:50 AM

I've got decent seats tonight, in the second section of field seats behind the Mets' dugout. I bought them when the Mets were 2.5 out of the wildcard (and climbing), anticipating a huge crowd. I imagine I'll be able to sit anywhere I want tonight. But I'm still going to have fun and four or five hotdogs/sausages.

I prefer the Italian sausages at the park with the complimentary angioplasty.

i prefer getting twice the meat for half the price at a deli on the way to the game.

That's a lot of meat.

Got mine at Shea tonight.

FAFIF will be all hands on deck for this historic occasion. Of course we were there for Todd Zeile's and Joe Hietpas' last game as Mets, too.

Day game after a night game. Think Willie will start Castro?

Sep 29 2005 05:08 PM

Going to Mike Piazza Appreciation Day to get myself a hat and about ten $2 hot dogs.

Oct 02 2005 09:34 AM

MK's Fall Ball game for today has been cancelled, so we're going to head over to Shea for the game.

Oct 02 2005 10:48 AM

i'll be there as well. yay, fleece hat!
